O martini

Probably the best known cocktail in the world, Martini takes hundreds of different forms. The proportions of gin and vermouth can vary infinitely and some circles are considered elegant with the least amount of vermouth possible. Legend has it that a New York bartender used to put pure gin in a cocktai glass, fill his mouth with vermouth and pour out the amount of vermouth that dripped when he said the word "vermouth". The quantities mentioned here are obviously only a reference.
